About the Item
'Migration: In Flux Collection,' by Peter Healy, Watercolor Painting, 2020
This framed 27" x 37" watercolor painting is from the 'In Flux' Collection by Irish artist Peter Healy. This colorful painting plays with scale as the small painted shapes, reminiscent of a hieroglyphic language. The forms almost vibrate as though they are meant to dance on the white paper. No two images are alike and all are painted with different colors. The painting is framed with a contemporary light birch wood frame.
'In Flux' reflects on life and art during the pandemic. The works explore form in a way that can be interpreted as isolated on a smaller scale but, ultimately, together still. This concept is thematic to other works by Healy, which are inspired by the sparse population in the Fermanagh countryside.
Healy is a Northern Irish artist now based in Houston. He received a degree from the University of Central Lancashire in illustration and graphic design. A multidisciplinary artist, Healy uses oil and acrylic paints, ink, wood, collage and more.

Peter Healy
Peter Healy is a Northern Irish artist with a background in illustration. These days he works in series and also individual paintings, drawings, and assemblage. His mediums are oil paint, acrylic, ink, pencil, collaged fabric, assembled wood/ various 3d objects and paper. He tries to let ideas come to him and sometimes let the pieces speak to him through their creation using editing as part of the process. They are usually colorful and often try to illustrate the contrast of living in the sparsely populated Fermanagh countryside of his youth and living in the city with a diverse population. He has lived in Ireland, England, Amsterdam, and Los Angeles. He now calls Houston, Texas home where he lives with his wife and two daughters. These experiences and diverse populations have influenced his work. There are so many ways to represent population architecture and nature, that he is constantly going between mediums to describe these relationships.
