While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition. Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Stajan-Ferkul's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean. keywords: white, feminine, fashion art, contemporary art, nightgown, figurative, painting, fashion illustration, couture, haute couture, neutral, classic

Howard Tangye (b.1948, Australia) has been an influential force in fashion for decades. Lecturing at London’s Central Saint Martins for 35 years, including 16 years as head of BA Womenswear. There, he tutored many contemporary greats, including John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Wes Gordon, Zac Posen and Hussein Chalayan. Examples of Tangye’s portraits are held in many important collections, both public and private, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Harvard University and London’s National Portrait Gallery. Throughout his teaching career Tangye quietly developed a particularly idiosyncratic art practice. By employing a decisive line with bold applications of richly layered materials, Tangye explores the nuances of the human form in an effort to expose his subjects’ true essence and energy. — Howard Tangye Philip Ellis (Standing - Stripe Top...
