The artwork is strongly expressed in precise and delicate strokes in a satiric manner, which is the style of the Italian artist.
Gabriele Galantara (1867-1937), journalist and one of the major Italian caricaturists and satirical designers. The Donkey was a political satire magazine in 1892, the year of the first Giolitti ministry and the establishment of the Italian Socialist Party, The magazine was conceived by Guido Podrecca, and by Gabriele Galantara, brilliant cartoonist and puppeteer, also a socialist. The two assumed the pseudonyms of "Goliardo" (Podrecca) and "Rata Langa" (Galantara), and with these nicknames, they signed the issues of the weekly.
