This artwork titled " But it Seemed so Real" 1979, is a colored ink and watercolor on Fabriano paper by American artist Linda Carter Holman, b.1949. It is hand signed and titled at the lower right corner by the artist. The artwork size is 21.5 x 29.25 inches, framed size is 30 x 37.75 inches. Custom framed in a dark wood frame, with marbled beige matting and light yellow fillet. The artwork and matting are in excellent condition, the frame has some scratches and dents, and will be replaced by a similar dark wood frame when is sold, This will bring the over all condition to excellent.
About the artist:
Linda Carter Holman painter, sculptor, print maker was born in Cushing, Oklahoma in 1949 and spent her early childhood in Venezuela where in the second grade the realization came that she would become an artist.
She moved to Arizona and from 1985 to 2002 her paintings were represented by galleries in Scottsdale, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Sedona. Those years of painting and selling established roots for Carter Holman paintings in the Southwest.
Her art work is represented by Wilde Meyer gallery in Scottsdale and Tucson Arizona. Locally she is showing with Camelot Gallery in Nevada City, California.
“The Rubaiyat”.Along the “Red Book Road” is filled with paintings from her southwest painting series up to used as illustrations for The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. A little red book can be found in her paintings. Primarily a painter of women, she is well known for her Latin Ladies and Cowgirls. The work of Linda Carter Holman is held in numerous private collections.
