Yasemin Kackar Demirel is a Turkish artist. She was born in Istanbul, received her MFA in DeKalb (IL), and currently lives in New York. Her work is a fragmented and reconstructed journey through the places she has lived and traveled, both real and imagined. She has a strong use of color and mediums incorporating acrylic, ink, pen, graphite, pastels, watercolors and spraypaint into her artwork. According to Yasemin, her latest Gaps series: “Movement in architecture and in nature are compelling to me. I view a world within continuous social and political conflicts and struggles, and reflecting upon this movement is freeing to me. This is a controlled freedom. I explore the ways in which emotional and physical balance, safety and stability can be maintained.
