Dandelion with Two Buds, Botanical Drawing on Black Paper Made With 14K Gold
By Margot Glass
Located in Kent, CT
This delicate botanical drawing is made with 14 karat gold on painted black paper. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a dandelion gone to seed, its leaves and buds are the focus of this series by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the humble dandelion often considered to be mundane or undesirable is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist.
Framed in a light natural wood frame with archival materials. 12 x 9 inches (unframed), $1400. (unframed), 14 x 11 inches (framed), $1650. (framed). Signed, dated and titled on verso, initialed on recto.
Glass draws with 14 karat gold and graphite (appearing silver) not only for the delicacy of line the metal point provides, but also for the allure of using a semiprecious and precious metals as a drawing material. Working on a dark ground allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver and gold properties of the metallic medium to present as high tones against the black ground.
Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to observe and represent these plants as accurately as possible in all their irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the seed heads and leaf veining. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible.
Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Glass’s education includes studies in the Brown/RISD Exchange Program, Brown University...

Work Title : "Bords (series)"
Artist : Fabien Granet (FR)
The work is signed and dated on the back. Unique work.
Work Size : 20x26cm. Framed (26x33cm) with Museum Glass, Wood and archival material
Born in 1970 the artist lives and works in France.
The majority of his drawings and paintings are inspired by the wild landscapes of Brittany in France.
" The drawing as a gesture allows me to exploit a (re)mise-en-scene as so many possibilities in the making. Through the quality of drawing as a marker of thought, it is not a question of constructing "dream worlds" but rather of setting up a device that would allow for a conscious dialogue of a certain perception of the real."
Fabien Granet is pursuing a research on the perception of the landscape, on our ways of trying to represent it, to understand it, to understand its structures.
The drawn "landscapes" are thus as many projections of the artist, which convene and reveal his artistic path, the influences of his culture, his utopias, his dystopian fantasies. Another shift where the quasi scientific concern of objective rigor and the mental construction of an construction of an individual course. The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which is registered in a research and a quest to pierce the enigma of the real.

Steam - Nasturtium Flower Encased in a Paper Lantern on Wayward Seas, Watercolor
Located in Chicago, IL
"Steam", by Christina Haglid, is a small, exquisite watercolor. A single nasturtium is suspended inside a paper lantern, floating on turbulent water, the steam escaping from the lantern propelling it forward. The fragility of the environment has always played an important role in Haglid's work. As a child growing up on the East Coast, the ever changing seaside landscapes intrigued her. This fragile balance between nature and her subject matter is as delicate as a paper lantern floating on the ocean.

Artist's Statement
Tiny Sanctuaries
There has always been an intersection between the process of writing and the act of painting in my work. It has somehow been my guide. In the last four years, during the making of this work, that connection intensified as I started writing short stories and flash fiction while taking online classes. I find the process of writing and painting so different in almost every way, but there is something freeing and generative in writing which helps my painting process. Or perhaps it's a reminder of what painting is for me - something intuitive that needs to be trusted. And what they do have in common is a desire to encapsulate and distill a single moment, a story, about the complexity of our emotions and experiences.
At the heart of my work is the recurring depiction of perseverance, strength of will, and a subtle optimism. Symbolically through the objects, precarious situations depict a moment of possible difficulty, often involving the influence of nature. A paper crane left in the snow. A boat nearly filled to the brim, but not submerged and able to drain its own contents carefully. A slide alone at night which will return to its purpose during the day. My intention is to not show the failure because I imagine all these objects make it through to better times. Allegories of survival. Someone comes by and finds the paper crane, the rowboat owners return and see their boat undisturbed, and the slide during the day brings joy.

"DREAM 1", watercolor, abstract flowers, cypresses, feathers, lilac, gold, blue
Located in Toronto, Ontario
DREAM 1 is a new watercolor on Fabriano paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 30x22", and is a striking composition in tones of gold, blue, rose and pink. Here again the artist plays with scale and invites the viewer to play as well – trees, feathers, or flowers in the abstract?
From Fleur Thesmar – "My dreams inspire new drawings, like pink cypresses in the countryside, feathers or lilac branches close at hand. I love to free the viewer's gaze, to wander in their own imagination."
Having moved her family from France to America, artist Fleur Thesmar closely observed the changes in her world – from the seemingly obvious such as surrounding landscapes, the light of day and weather, the flowers, trees and shorelines – to the smaller less obvious shifts, such as how one behaves in a new world, in a new home, how one cherishes certain belongings and certain memories.
Her artistic practice is borne out of that close observation and shift in perspective, and has led to a number of successful gallery shows in the U.S. and internationally. Fleur Thesmar has shown at Beacon Gallery in Boston MA, 440 Gallery, Brooklyn NY, Old West Museum, Cheyenne WY, Belmont Art Gallery, Belmont MA, and Salon Ile-de-France 2020, Bourg-La-Reine, France. Her work is on permanent display at the Tower Hill Botanic...

Located in Toronto, Ontario
ABSTRACT (Tree) is a new watercolor on Fabriano paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 30x22", and is a striking composition in tones of gold, slate green, umber and tan. Note the strong sense of unfurling, of opening up the road and sky. And of course the tree that serves as invitation and destination all at once.
From Fleur Thesmar – "Some geometric shapes and reflections seem to come alive, like the Sun in the sky, an open road, a huge tree from the ground up. It's like a game of mirrors, a vibration. This painting is made with hand-harvested pigments transformed in watercolor, in an effort to investigate the history and sustainability of my medium."
