About the Item
Composition with nude woman is a pleasant pencil drawing on a piece of paper from a sketchbook, realized by an anonymous artist in the early XX century. At the bottom, two monograms with the letter ‘M’. The state of preservation is good, except for some dark stains and fungal foxings, mainly at the top and on the lower right of the paper.
Various preparatory sketches, almost all representing nude women, standing or lying down, fill the whole surface of the paper, both on the recto and on the verso. In the center of the recto, a framed drawing is particularly defined, presenting a nude woman lying on her right side with the left arm raised and the right arm in a double position, like an afterthought: both straight to sustain her figure and bended on a support.
These are fresh and easy drawings, exemplifying the work of an expert draftsman who presumably drew his images from real life.
