About the Item

Set of Two by Tahuanty Jacanamijoy (El regalo de la persistencia and Serpiente Arcoiris) Watercolor on paper Overall Image size: 35 cm H x 54 cm W Individual size: Image size: 35 cm H x 27 cm W One of a Kind Paintings _____________ In my work, I speculate about the origin of certain daily practices, astrological events, or fictional stories. The scenes I draw arise from visions in conversations with sacred plants like Yagé, or from pictorial interpretations I make of my multifaceted identity. This search has led me to recognize myself as the meeting place of different worlds, such as the tradition inherited from my father as an Inga and my mother as a Wayuu and Arhuaca, and the socio-economic and cultural hyperactivity that I experience as a man in the Colombian capital. The scenes that I capture on paper or canvas are allegorical stories that I decide to carry with a feeling of joyful melancholy to give a personal and unique meaning to the condition of the contemporary human being. Tahuanty Jacanamijoy has participated in exhibitions since 2014, including a solo show. He was recognized and awarded for his graduate work. He has a master's degree in animation from the Royal College of Art, London.

Designers have an wide reach through out the world but have yet to reach the depths of the ocean. Artist Jeff Conroy has created this Gyotaku print of large ray entitled simply "Gucci Ray" to fill that void. To achieve this remarkable painting, the artist applies sumi ink to a sting ray he caught himself on Florida's Gulf Coast, then "prints" it onto Marbled Mulberry paper - a soft, handmade paper. He then embellishes the details with watercolor to give extraordinary dimension and interest to its overall aesthetic. The artwork is unframed. Please contact the gallery for framing options. It is rumored that Samurai would settle fishing competitions using Gyotaku prints. This original form of Gyotaku is still utilized today, and can be seen hanging in fish and tackle shops all...
