About the Item
In this elegant composition by Ania Machudera light plays off a gel pattern on a clear plexiglass circle creating a shadow of the original image on the wall. Machudera leans on her background in science to play with optics—the study of light to represent the visible and the invisible in time and space. The piece is wall mounted and hangs about ten centimeters or four inches from the wall. Aluminum clips are used to suspend it from the ceiling or from two discreet metal arms on the wall.

Born in Poland, Machudera studied biology and primary teaching at the University of Lodz. She emigrated to Canada in 1990. At OCAD University, in Toronto, she took classes in drawing and painting and received her BFA in 2005. Since then, Machudera’s work has been shown in public and private galleries in Toronto and in Poland. It has been reviewed several times in the Globe and Mail. Her work is held in private and corporate collections.
