Anna Shesterikova
Water Washes Everything Away. Silk, Cold Batik, Canvas, Klimt

2007

About the Item

100% silk, painted batik, stretched on canvas For interior, nude, woman, water. The painting "Water Washes Away Everything" is a meditative image of dissolution, a return to the original, and liberation from the burden of past experiences. The female figure, inscribed in the flowing structure of water, is devoid of resistance: her body seems to obey the rhythm of the elements, becoming its extension. There is no struggle here—only acceptance. The figure's gracefulness resembles a fetal pose, a gesture of profound vulnerability and, at the same time, trust. Water envelops, supports, and carries, blurring the boundaries between body and space. It does not destroy—it cleanses. All the sharp edges of memory, pain, and tension dissolve in the soft, flowing lines of the batik. The color palette is built on complex shades of turquoise, ochre, milky, and sandy tones. They create a sense of natural harmony, as if the viewer is looking at a slice of stone, the seabed, or the ancient flow of time. Golden contours and organic forms evoke the delicate balance between the physical and the eternal. Artist Shesterikova was inspired by Klimt when creating this painting. The cool batik emphasizes the fluidity of the concept: the paint on the silk behaves like water, leaving unpredictable, living traces. This enhances the feeling that the image is not so much painted as it is spontaneously generated—a natural process. "Water Washes Away Everything" is a painting about inner rebirth, about the pause between pain and renewal. It is about the moment when a person allows themselves to let go of the past and trust the flow of life, knowing that the water will carry away the excess, leaving only the essence. The painting is ready to hang on the wall and is equipped with hooks. A frame is required to hide the fastening buttons.
