About

“Tarnished Trees” is a large 36 x 36 inch multi layered work made with an archival pigment print of silhouetted bare tree branches on film, loosely nailed over salvaged copper on wood panel. The pigment print carries over from the film onto the wood panel. The artist’s palette is made up of deep earthy browns, copper tones and a hint of green. A regular rhythm of vertical trunks is echoed in the creases of the copper beneath, which gives subtle reflectivity to the piece.

Krause is a painter, collage artist and printmaker who incorporates digital mixed media into her art. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries and museums and featured in numerous current periodicals and books.

Krause is Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art where she founded the Computer Arts Center and a member of Digital Atelier®, an artists collaborative. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and symposia and a consultant for manufacturers and distributors of products which may be used by fine artists.

This work was made using a professional inkjet printer using pigment ink formulated to last in excess of 100 years, and painted with encaustic.
