About the Item
Lourdes Rivera's work focuses on the investment of individuality, the importance of such in respective social groups and the extent of its importance when in different cultural settings. Being the only member of her family who was born in the United States, she understands constant misunderstanding of ideologies. Her work is trying to harmonize differences, respectfully giving reverence to each of the objects that are involved, which are carefully selected from locations of relative importance. Her goal is to physically bring these objects together to make connections, to form individual, unique, entities in their own right.
