GS03, Geometric Abstract Multicolor 3D Mixed Media Wall Sculpture
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This artwork is part of a series called "Geometric Sculpture" and is a unique 3D sculpture that features a variety of vibrant colors including yellow, orange, red, blue, dark blue, and black. The sculpture is abstract in nature and showcases geometric shapes that add actual depth and space to the piece, making it visually striking and aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. Zach Touchon has expressed a desire to step outside the traditional square format and focus on movement and 3D effects. As a result, the sculpture creates shadows that further enhance the 3D effect, making the piece truly dynamic and engaging. Touchon has also mentioned his goal to create even larger pieces in the future, pushing the boundaries of the series and the medium itself. Overall, this artwork is a visually stunning and unique addition to the "Geometric Sculpture" series, showcasing the artist's dedication to creating pieces that challenge traditional art forms and create a sense of depth and movement. -- Zach Touchon is a contemporary LA-based abstract expressionist artist. Besides that, Touchon is also an actor, a singer, a screenwriter, and an owner of the Touchon Gallery. Zach Touchon is a second-generation and a successor to his famous father's, Cecil Touchon's, artistic path. By rethinking abstract expressionism ideas, using different media he creates large abstract artwork along with small collages, huge murals, and interior installations. The main focus of his art is depth and space and finding a semantic and aesthetic balance between them. As a muralist, Touchon joins the ranks of such great LA street artists as WRDSMTH, Retna, Shepard Fairy, and Dirt Cobain...

Mixed Media Montage. 'Salut aux Eskimos'. 'Hello to the Eskimos.'
Located in Cotignac, FR
Mixed media montage titled 'Salut aux Eskimos' ( Hello to the Eskimos ) by French artist Armand Avril, signed, dated 2009 and titled to the reverse. This mixed media montage fully demonstrates Avril's inspiration drawn from Inuit art whilst also expressing the humour and joy that he puts into all his work. A very strong sculptural image and a feast for the eyes in searching for and recognising the techniques and materials used in making this piece come alive. This montage is made from wood pieces, plywood, acrylic paint and nails. The more sculpted areas of the piece stand out to around 1.5cm from the frame. The piece includes the artists favourite motifs of the French flag, fish and skulls. Avril's work will always make you smile as the images he produces are joyous and light and explode with great energy. Armand Avril was born in 1926 in Lyon. His father, Marcel Avril, was a painter and collector of African art. At 16 Armand became an apprentice shepherd in Provence. Avril could always be seen equipped with a sketchbook and a book on the history of art whilst tending his flock. It was not until the age of 30, in 1956, that Armand embarked on painting as an autodidact, influenced by Raoul Dufy, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse and the Lyonnaise School of Painting. He exhibited for the first time in 1957. In 1960, he left for a one-year trip to Africa. There he met the painter Jean Arène who introduced him to the village of Cotignac in the Var and to Louis Pons...

'Femme Assise'. Large Mixed-media Montage on Board.
Located in Cotignac, FR
Imposing and very large scale mixed media 'assemblage' by French artist Armand Avril. The work includes the French tricolour flag colours, his symbolic cat sculptures and a highly colourful geometric image of the artist's mother sitting in a chair. The work is signed and dated to the reverse and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the gallery. This montage fully demonstrates Avril's geometric period whilst also expressing the humour and joy that he puts into all his work. A very strong sculptural image and a feast for the eyes in searching for and recognising the everyday objects used in making this piece come alive. This montage is made from wood pieces, plywood, oil paint, acrylic, bottle top and nails . The more sculpted areas of the piece stand out up to 3cm from the frame. Pyre I, charred birch plywood abstract patterns earth tones created with fire
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Pyre I 2017 charred birch plywood panel 32" x 24" x 1.25" Pyre I is part of a series of charred panels Watson completed in 2017 at the Arts, Letters and Numbers Residency in Averill Park, NY. The pieces incorporate local materials, rice, and fire to create charred photographic images on plywood that explore themes related to being, substance and imperceptibility. The imagery references the practice of cremation on a funerary pyre in which the corpse is prepared and burned over a construction of combustible materials. Within the work, rather than destroying the body, the fire produces an afterimage that remains indefinitely. Each day Watson would scavenge the site collecting natural objects, such as sticks, small rocks, and other detritus. He laid these objects on the surface of the plywood with raw rice. The surface was then charred using a propane torch. After the objects and rice were removed an image of them remained, like a photogram. In some panels, He incorporated a homemade black rice ink or various paints to tint the surface before and after burning. Rice is a recurring theme in Watson’s work. It alludes to an uncontained body in the process of decay, returning to the earth to become a source of sustenance for new life. It also imagines the soul extending beyond its fleshly container. The act of burning attempts to capture the space between life, death, and rebirth— freezing it in a state of transformation. The sticks, stones, and rice become remnants of life and markers of space and time. They are more than mere grains and detritus. They become the body as a trace of what was and a reflection of what will be. Michael...
