This contemporary bright pink and yellow abstract mixed media piece is an original artwork by Canadian artist Rachel Crummey. Bright, colorful, and raw this composition plays with the relationship between texture, colour, and form as they relate to one another. Rachel's detailed original work combines historic pottery patterns with blind touch drawing. This method has the artist close their eyes and touch what they're drawing with one hand while the other hand draws what they feel, leaving behind the meandering trace of the object. Working with various different themes and media, Rachel Crummey's experimental practice often centres on themes of nature, emotions, and compositional exploration. This vibrant original piece will provide a stunning focal point in any space. About the Artist: Rachel Crummey is a visual artist and writer of settler descent based in Tkaronto. She has been artist in residence with Kulturkontakt Austria and the Salzburger Kunstverein, and was the 2015 winner of the Joseph Plaskett Foundation's Nancy Petry Award for emerging Canadian painters. She has exhibited in Canada, London UK, Austria, and Italy. She is currently completing a printmaking residency at Open Studio. Her poetry has been published by the Puritan and Maisonneuve magazines. She gratefully acknowledges the support of the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council.
