Grand AA is a work by Spanish contemporary artist Ramon Enrich, from the series 'Typography’.
Silkscreen and semi-rigid plastic, 200 cm x 135 cm, 2011. Sold unframed.
In this series of works bordering between figurative and abstract, Ramon Enrich works letters like they were sculptures. Based on poems he cherishes he strips down the letters to a veritable skeleton "like the carcass of an animal one finds in the desert". The typography's architectural aspect becomes more important than its sense. According to him : "As a non utilitarian object, typography possesses a mysterious expressive charge. Speaking about typography is like speaking of an enigma midway between pragmatism and poetry."
The artist composes a space by placing these typographical forms onto a support (canvas, paper, plastic support) that he has previously painted in an abstract fashion with an autonomy of colors and shapes.
