About the Item
Svetlana Ostapovici was born in Ribnita, Republic of Moldova, in 1967.
She is an affirmed international mosaic artist. In 1999, she moved to Italy. Greek and Latin culture had a strong influence on her cultural education. She visited the most important archeological sites and began to study ruins, monuments and ancient craft techniques. In Pompeii she discovered mosaics and her attention is suddenly captured. She traveled around Italy collecting information and expanding her knowledge towards this form of art. In Ravenna she became familiar with the mosaic technique, in Rome she perfected her craft working in a renowned mosaic studio in Piazza San Pietro.
Her artistic path gradually reached an independent expression in a mature reinterpretation of a traditional form of art.
Ostapovicis’s works investigate with an introspective analysis the theme of the identification and the mystery of the existence.
