Sunset over the River
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
An oil painting by Russian Impressionist painter Viktor Butko. Butko's impressionistic style is part of a longer lineage of Russian Impressionists. "Sunset Over the River" displays his appreciation for the colors and subtle light seen just after sunset, along a river in his homeland. Painting dimensions: 30 x 36 inches Framed dimensions: 36 x 42 inches Artist Bio: Viktor Butko was born in 1978 in Moscow, into a family of artists. He often visited the studio of his grandfather, the famous artist Victor Chulovich, and watched the creation of paintings. As you may imagine, this has inspired him to start painting. Viktor’s first steps in art were directed by his grandfather and his parents, artists Nickolay Butko and Marina Chulovich, he then studied at the Moscow Art School, which is known for a high level of training. After completing his training at the art school, Butko painted at the Academic Dacha of Artists, created by the great Russian artist Ilya Repin for students of the Academy of Fine Arts. There he worked under the guidance of famous artists Alexey Gritsay and Tkachev brothers, which had a big impact on his creativity. Viktor’s first solo show was held in the United States, in 2002 at the McCarthey Gallery, one of the foremost dealers in the United States for Russian Impressionist art. This marked the beginning of a long cooperation with the gallery. Later, in 2016, He took part in an international plein air event, which was organized by American painter Ben Fenske and art dealer Laura Grenning. As a result of this Russian-American Painting Alliance a large exhibition was held in the Grenning Gallery...

Evening Rain, Oil Painting
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Faye Vander Veer depicts a cozy rainy evening in the city. "You can almost hear the sound of the tires as the traffic moves along the wet pavement," says Faye. Drizzly street scenes are among her favorite subjects to portray. She paints reflected headlights and other ambient lighting to give a feeling of warmth and calm.

About the Artist
Artist Faye Vander Veer seeks out moments with engaging narratives and captures them with an impressionist style. Her dramatic use of color, texture, light and shadow lend a glowing quality, creating an energy all their own. While using her own photographs as a general reference, it is her sensory memory of the event and her emotional reaction that is conveyed on the canvas, causing the viewer to be transported to another time and place. “Painting becomes a language I use to express my emotional response to what is before me and share my experience of the subject with others,“ says Faye.

Since the 1990s, Heinsohn’s work has addressed climate change, impending cataclysm, and cultural dysfunction in numerous bodies of work including his mixed media wall reliefs, his "Time Frames" series of photo-based abstractions, and his turbulent, thickly painted, cratered abstractions. However, as mentioned in his recent statement: “Given the current dysfunctional mayhem of our planet, I believe we need visual art that provides a place for the mind to transcend our calamity, to thoughtfully explore the multitude of unknowns connected to our daily lives, and to thereby refresh our optimism and our sense of urgency in the reimagining of our existence.” These new works channel the meditative properties of abstraction pursued by Kandinsky and Malevich, combined with intuitive approaches of accessing higher consciousness which guided Hilma af Klint as well as, much later, artists of Abstract Surrealism such as Gordon Onslow Ford, Roberto Matta, Wolfgang Paalen...

One Blossom One World. Peony & Deer I, Oil Painting
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
"A flower is small, but it is also a world of its own," says artist Guigen Zha. He paints a surreal image of a flower growing from bud to bloom. A parallel metaphor of human life from birth to death plays out in the scene. Guigen displays a peony, a deer, and a human expressing the interconnection and interdependence of all things in a utopian world.

He Stayed
Located in Philadelphia, PA
This piece is an original artwork by Jason Chen titled "He Stayed". It is made of hand-woven archival pigment print and measures 20"h x 16"w or 25"h x 21"w when framed. In 2012, Jason Chen shifted his long-running focus on dry plate tintypes to a new process: photo weaving. Chen began using two separate images of the same person, then wove them together in a process exploring time, movement, process, and mutation. He has exhibited works in the series one by one over the years, but in Fragments, his 2015 solo exhibition at Paradigm Gallery, a full collection of these works were on display together for the first time. Bio // Jason Chen is originally from Guangzhou, China. He received his BFA in Animation from the University of Arts in 2008.
