About the Item
L.A.S. (Lettre Autographe Signée) Autograph Letter Signed by A. Masson to N. Jacometti. Paris, 22nd November 1949. One page. 27 x 20.9 cm. In 8°. In French. Perfect condition, with usual folds of paper and some slight stains of ink on the higher margin.
Greetings and Thank-you letter: N. Jacometti, the famous Swiss Graphic Art Editor and Collector, is going to organise two big Masson expositions in Zurich and Geneva. “Esperons que le public lui reservera le même accueil.”
The background: It's 1945, the Surrealist artist came back from the United States to France and starts painting landscapes, abstract works and continues to explore erotic thematic. In 1949, Nesto Jacometti together with Pierre Cailler founds the "International Guild of Etching" and ,in 1955, “L'Œuvre gravée”, two editorial initiatives contributed to rinnovate the Graphic Art.
