About the Artist:
Kathleen was born in NYC and grew up on Long Island, the first of five children. She was drawing before she could write; it just came naturally, and was the way she loved to spend her time. At 10 she could capture photorealism drawing horses, and later fashion sketches. Her art has always evolved around woman and investigating elements of feminine roles in our society.
She now resides in San Diego. Her corsets and bobby pin art are in private collections. She was awarded the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Medal of Honor in Pastel for her work, “Blue Sink”, and published in International Artist.
Making art for Kathleen is what keeps her sane, makes her happy and the thing she has to do. Her consistent work is with vine charcoal (bobby pin images and women’s torsos in corsets) and soft pastels (portraits and still life). Other interests include acrylic paint (black only) on paper or wood and 3 dimensional art in the form of fans and textural assemblage. Photographing models for her corset drawings has led to digitally enhanced imagery and an adventure in a new art form.
