About the Item
Artist Comments
"A long sea journey is implied by the blowing masts in this piece," explains artist Shyun Song. "An indigo blue background signifies the spiritual course of the journey."
About the Artist
Painting is not merely an aesthetic endeavor for Shyun Song, but also an existential one. Her art matches aspects of geometric shapes to express meaning. The starting point of her creation is a definite subject which derives from her intuition and instinct. She then aims to capture the human experience, both positive and negative. Shyun has a habit of mentally editing whatever she sees to her visual satisfaction.

- Distant Shore, Oil PaintingBy Heidi HyblLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Abstracted, minimal view of the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The painting captures the motion of the rolling waves and a warm, tonal sunset. Rich green, blues, muted yellow and touches of red along the edges bring the scene to life.About the Artist
Artist Heidi Hybl starts each day listening to the birds sing in the canyon near her home in Big Sur. Then, she makes a cup of tea, reviews the previous day’s work, turns on her podcasts and starts. She paints in a small studio that is separate from her house, and works on several pieces at a time within what she would call “organized chaos.” She also takes time to tend her flowers, vegetables, chickens and goats. A former medical professional, Heidi worked for several years with laser machines, developing a knowledge and a fascination with the color spectrum and light. Living in Big Sur offers inspiration in the ever-changing atmospheric conditions that arise when hills, canyons, and ocean meet. She then reduces these elements to an abstract experience on canvas in a color palette derived from her surroundings: sunsets and storms, fire and fog.Words that describe this painting: abstract, seascape, minimal, ocean, coast, seascape, minimalism, non-representational, oil painting, green

- Flotilla, Original PaintingBy Jaime EllsworthLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
A minimalist scene of a green boat sailing under moons, a giant flower and infinity-shaped clouds. Artist Jaime Ellsworth says the painting represents sailing off to a land of peace. Rendered in her signature style combining modern and primitive painting elements.About the Artist
Jaime Ellsworth paints animals. Her career as a cowhand never got off the ground, so she stumbled into art never knowing it would complement her passion for animals so completely. Most subjects are her own, but lately she has expanded out of her corral to include bears and beasts not commonly seen on San Juan Island, in the Pacific Northwest, where she's lived for the last 30 years. She suspects it will be years before she runs out of inspiration or has jeans that aren’t covered with paw prints or paint.Words that describe this painting: boat, clouds, flower, ship, seascape...

- Baseball Horizon, Original PaintingBy Stephen CapognaLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
A macro hyperrealistic rendition of a baseball by artist Stephen Capogna. "The painting depicts an ultra-close detail of a baseball with a space-like horizon in the background," states Stephen. Painting with a methodical process Stephen utilizes an airbrush and thousands of templates. The result is a highly detailed compelling image.About the Artist
In a striking example of hyperrealism, Stephen Capogna’s body of work manages to capture the essence of macro photography in highly detailed acrylic paintings. Stephen’s inspiration initially came from golf courses near his home. The work focuses on the minute details of sporting goods, from the lightly scratched dimples on a golf ball to the individual fibers on a tennis ball. He works exclusively from his own photographs using an innovative airbrushing technique. Stephen utilizes a large spray gun at the beginning of a painting for color application in large areas. He then wields a small airbrush for the finer details, using templates hand-cut from mylar to create edges and shapes. “One of the biggest defining moments for me was incorporating the airbrush into my process of painting,†Stephen...Category21st Century and Contemporary Minimalist Still-life Paintings
