Classic Tweety

Circa 1990's

About the Item

MEDIUM: Limited Edition Cel SIZE: 10.5 x 12.5 EDITION SIZE: 500 SKU: WB1117 ABOUT THE IMAGE: “Awww, Aint I Tweet?” In Classic Tweety, everyone’s favorite little yellow bird stands proud outside his cage, but safely inside Granny’s house (with Sylvester obviously outside…). ABOUT THE MEDIUM: This limited edition cel began with a drawing by Dan Haskett. From this drawing Laurie Dindis created the master inking which was then silkscreened with the Warner Bros. seal onto an acetate sheet (or “cel”). Each cel was ink –enhanced by hand before being hand-painted on the reverse side. The background by Hector Martinez was reproduced on acid-free paper using a fine art lithography process. The edition number was hand-inked on each cel in an edition size of 500.

Multidisciplinary artist Joachim Romain aligns himself with a contemporary wave, propelled by the concepts of time and the resulting wear and tear. He delves into the urban environment and the consumer society that conditions us on a daily basis. His work is grounded in paper, posters, and advertising discourse, referencing overconsumption. "The consumer society in which we live exists thanks to paper and advertising posters that sprawl across cities in 4 x 3 format," he states, utilizing this medium to denounce the commercial message. The poster is thus recycled, manipulated, glued, and exhibited once again, reflecting the endless mirror...
