Her graphic design and photography background influences the editing process and methodology of Asselin’s abstract paintings. Making the switch to visual art in 2018, she was searching for a more introspective aesthetic. Asselin believes, “Abstract art is quite simply the art of painting”. Composing color interprets thoughts and emotions aligning her work with color field painting. Asselin’s mission is to emotionally reach the viewer: "As an abstract artist, I aim to create light, casual and colorful artworks that trigger a visual stimulation and an ethereal feeling of joy. My art is an invitation to discover a beauty that blurs the boundaries between the real world around us and what lies deep within ourselves”. Asselin explores escapism from the constraints of reality through internal solace. Her unplanned, spontaneous approach gives her the liberty to rebel on canvas. Although a marriage of disrupted form and color, with oil as her preferred medium, Asselin believes the tones and hues she achieves with oil dominate the composition.
