This is the latest abstract work by Christo Sharpe taken and advanced from the landscape concept that is his usual approach. Christo is now looking in greater depth at the colour, shapes and textures, that have for some time been the mainstay of his work, to produce this new dynamic style.
Clear, bold and confident, Christo Sharpe is a lifelong painter who closes in on a subject to pull your attention to the colours, shapes and details in front of him. His strong colours and compositions are delightfully simple and appealing. He is a lifelong painter who after Southampton College of Art and a 20 year career as an art director in advertising is now focussing exclusively on his art. He is an enthusiastic traveller and walker and it is often on these rambles that his subjects reveal themselves. It is not always the classic views that appeal, it can just as often be a gnarled tree trunk, a dense woodland scene or a well shaped country garden that holds his attention. If he can take the subject in front of him and encourage the viewer to see something new and exciting in that image, then he has achieved what he wants in his art. To generate an awareness that might otherwise be missing. This is work that looks and feels fresh.

Elaine Kazimierczuk. This large dramatic oil painting was made as part of a landscape panorama which measures 7m across in total. Although the four pieces were made as a complete work, they are available separately. Any two, three or four panels may be hung together, preferably choosing those which keep the continuity of the image. This piece is the fourth panel on the right of the series. The work represents an area of the Oxford Botanic Gardens which has been planted with sustainability in mind. The result is a riot of colours of mixed species mostly drought tolerant. I adore the chaotic assemblage of beauty in these flower beds. They are extensive, so the work deserves this treatment on a large scale. Elaine Kazimierczuk artist is available at Wychwood Art. Elaine studied chemistry at university and taught for many years before becoming a professional artist.
