About the Item
Artist Comments
In this meditative mixed media oil painting, artist David Carter suggests a glowing sunset over green grassy marshland, with gently flowing water in the foreground. David explains that the title 'adagio' is the musical direction for players to perform slowly, gracefully, with ease. He says it is the sprit in which this painting was created, and might also suggest an approach to experiencing it as well. After attaching folds of fabric to the canvas, the painting was meticulously layered with up to fifty glazes of oil paint, often hand-rubbed in, to create a deep luminous finish. Comes framed in a 1.5" deep brushed black metal frame.
About the Artist
David Carter’s atmospheric abstract paintings are a reflection of the natural world. He strives to create art that is at once sensitive and meditative, yet resonate and contemporary. David describes his creative practice as “finding” paintings, rather than “making” them. "My process is completely intuitive based," he says. "I start by laying in line or layers of color and find my way forward." Spontaneous expression and exploration are key to his inspiration. David is a self-taught artist who has spent many years of experimentation developing the visual grammar that he uses today. Prior to 1990, he was a landscape painter, the influence of which is visible in his current work. Through his abstract paintings, David strives to produce an intimate, visceral, and contemplative experience for the viewer.

- Regatta, Abstract Oil PaintingBy Sharon SiebenLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Artist Sharon Sieben paints an abstract display of expressive cobalt blue strokes. A majestic and imaginative representation of sailing through the ocean. "I observed this when I could feel the rush of wind in sails and hear the sea splash against the hull," says Sharon. Accents of green create a stimulating complement to the flurry of dramatic brushwork.About the Artist
Sharon Sieben prefers working in a loose, fluid technique and finds inspiration in the most unexpected things. Her parents bought her a set of oil paints when she was ten years old and it sparked her love of art. She especially admires the work of Impressionist artists such as Paul Cezanne because of how they broke tradition. When she's not making art, she enjoys reading and playing classical guitar...Category21st Century and Contemporary Abstract Abstract Paintings

Poetic words emerge while I am painting, which become the art statement. It is my intention that these words can be used as a form of meditation with each painting to give the viewers a deeper experience with the artwork and create an experience of "peaceful pause" moments in time. Poetic Art Statement for this piece: Beloved ~ Beauty of Nature. Inspired by my love of earth's natural majesty, I utilized professional grade water-mixable oils, glazes, recycled glass particles and melted silver...Category
