Denise Driscoll
"Seeking Lightness", abstract, lanterns, teal, white, red, acrylic painting

2018

About the Item

"Seeking Lightness" by Denise Driscoll is a 24 x 20 inch abstract acrylic painting of a lantern-like form floating above layers of delicate marks in bright teal blue, iridescent white, red, black and olive green. Webbed shapes and shimmering networks might be organisms, lanterns, foam or ideas. Multiple transparent layers confound perception of foreground and background, creating a visual labyrinth that engages prolonged viewing. This subtle and whimsical painting is on a birch panel with 1.5 inch painted sides and is signed on the reverse. Denise Driscoll is a Massachusetts-based contemporary painter exploring themes of interconnection and inner experience. Her work has been shown throughout New England and is collected nationally. Driscoll is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
