Afifi’s paintings reflect a critical reality of life in Cairo, revealing how Egyptians’ daily routine has become mechanical and impersonal, using bold brush strokes, textured canvas and sketch-like techniques, he captures the grittiness of the streets and perpetual movement of machines and its impact on human being.
