About the Item
Painter Francie Hester, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, lives and works outside of Washington, DC. In 1999, Hester abandoned the traditional practice of painting on canvas to explore the properties of painting on aluminum. Her current series, called Suspension, reflects upon shifting perspectives and ponders our collective sense of both order and disorder. The objective is to suspend, to find a place of contemplation, order, and rhythm. The inner narrative, this inner circle of reflection, necessarily interrelates and intersects with wider circles in the world - circles of hope and joy, lies and hate, disarray and order. By Suspension, by moving away from the daily pace, the work is meant to create an opening for contemplation.
