About the Item
Stoyanov's paintings have a fresco-like quality, the taut surface of the canvas polished to a fine smooth finish. The work has a very clean edge and does not require framing. His work is created using a combination of pigment, wax, and marble dust.
"My paintings are meditative works, created through the layers of various colors and textures - like the layers of leaves on a woodland floor, each leaf adding a new level to my understanding of nature. I wish to bring this awareness to my audience and to create opportunities for dialogue." Ivo Stoyanov
Born in Bulgaria, Ivo Stoyanov has resided in Canada for many years. He received his Master's degree in Mural Painting from the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria (1990). He has been commissioned to create major mural projects in the United States, Bulgaria and Canada. Stoyanov’s spontaneous abstractions have been shown in solo and group exhibitions and are admired in private collections in the United States, Canada, Japan and Bulgaria.
