This monumental ceramic panel painting by renowned ceramist, Jared FitzGerald is incredibly unique due to its size. Firing a ceramic panel of this size as one singular panel without any cracking is extremely difficult to accomplish. "City Life" is an abstracted cityscape/ landscape with figures, symbols and natural elements. The bold red figures match the energy of the red sun, as they all shine within the deep and softer blues of the calming landscape around them. This bold red glaze paint is uncommon for the medium of Chinese porcelain panel painting. The shine of the porcelain combined with the sheer size of the painting demands immediate attention in any interior. The ceramic will never fade and does not require glass or plexi, thus it is ideal for taking direct sunlight. Modernizing the Eastern ceramic panel painting medium with more contemporary aesthetics is a central aim of the artist.
