Jared FitzgeraldRhythms of Summer2014
2014
About the Item
This larger sized ceramic panel painting by renowned ceramist, Jared FitzGerald is incredibly unique due to its size. Firing a ceramic panel of this size as one singular panel without any cracking is extremely difficult to accomplish. "Rhythms of Summer" is an abstracted fete galante complete with dancing figures amidst a landscape that seems to be pulsating with movement and energy. The dramatic, gestural brushstrokes of this work evoke a sense of movement. The twisting and twirling figures seem to recall motifs of Matisse. The shine of the porcelain combined with the sheer size of the painting demands immediate attention in any interior. The ceramic will never fade and does not require glass or plexi, thus it is ideal for taking direct sunlight. Modernizing the Eastern ceramic panel painting medium with more contemporary/ Western aesthetics is a central aim of the artist. The beautifully selected gloss white frame perfectly accompanies this impressive painting and gels with most any interior.

- "Abstract Green Exclusive" FD6UZ, Abstract, 21st Century, Acrylic, ClayBy Roger KönigLocated in Dessau-Rosslau, Sachsen AnhaltArtist: Roger König b. Dessau, Germany (1968) Master student of Kurt Schönburg, HWK Halle, Germany. König combines modern painting with acrylic with old techniques and in this way, he connects contemporary art with tradition. The natural clay color bestows the pictures with a completely special dim texture which stands in an exciting contrast with the delicate luster of the acrylic color. The features of the clay color allow a more intensive treatment of the surface. Often, there are lines, scratches or breaks in the surface, as if the canvas had been covered with a fair patina. More subtle strokes in the color bring graphic characters to mind, color gradients natural phenomena, divided canvasses the contrast which is immanent in everything: the principle of yin and yan.
