Marcia Wise’s small oil painting “Gaudioso” is 12 x 18 inch and filled with vibrant reds, oranges, as well as with cooler blues and purples for contrast. Wise’s oil painting “Gaudioso” is a part of her newer abstract series of work. Vibrant reds, oranges, with cooler blues and purples expresses the emotional energy felt by the artist, and gives viewers a peek of the inner relationship she experiences with nature. This painting brings to mind the flow of nature, whether in flower imagery or that of land and water, as the artist brings to us a sense of flow and ease. Painting with brushes, using photo references from walks in the woods, Marcia crops her black and while photos to pull out elements, such as contrasts, and looks for compositions that excite and lead the eye. “Gaudioso” is a smaller canvas 12 x 18 x 1.5 inches, unframed with clean, white edges. It is signed on the front by the artist.
Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
