About the Item
Mark Hilltout has always been drawn to the random, the discarded and the broken. For the past 12 years he has been looking intently at something that most of us try to ignore - old corrugated iron. To Mark, it is endlessly complex and gloriously tarnished; something that time alone can create and no artist can hope to better. Burnt by the sun, flayed by wind and rain, each sheet is the result of thousands of happy and unhappy accidents - the perfect, imperfect material. He weaves fragments of this material together in order to create beautiful, unique abstract pieces with rusted earthy colours.
