Peter Robert Keil (b. 1942, Züllichau, Brandenburg) is a German expressionist painter and sculptor who gained international recognition with shows in New York, Paris, London, and Miami. His early Berlin-era work leaned into German expressionism, focusing on big-city settings and characters on society's fringes. Over time his style grew more spontaneous and dynamic, and by the early 1980s he was associated with the "Berliner Neue Wilden" (Berlin New Wild) movement — marked by intense, lurid colors, quick impasto brushstrokes, graffiti-like abstraction, and a departure from realism. He mainly paints human figures, portraits, cityscapes, landscapes, and floral still lifes.
