Born in Gdańsk in 1947. In 1971-76 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (PWSSP) in Gdańsk under prof. Władysław Jackiewicz.
During his studies he was interested in film and photography – he actively contributed to the work of „Żak” students’ film club and Gdańsk Photographic Society. His photographic works were shown at many exhibitions, including those in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Aigle (Switzerland), Dijon (France) and Hong Kong. In 1976 his film „Śniadanie” („Breakfast”) was awarded the bronze medal at the World Film Festival in Baden, Austria. Over that period he created numerous painterly compositions from metal, glass, wood and artificial resins. He also developed a strong interest in textile art, which he studied under prof. Józefa Wnukowa. In 1978 he started his work as a professor’s assistant in the Department of Drawing, Painting and Architecture of Gdańsk Technical University (Politechnika Gdańska). Since 1988 he has been an associate professor in this Department.
