Salvatore Travascio
Face to Face 1 - Painting by Salvatore Travascio - 2009

2009

About the Item

Face to Face 1 is an original painting realized by the Italian artist Salvatore Travascio in 2009. This is a modular piece, made up of 10 oil paintings and collages on panels. Perfect conditions. Each panel has a writing at the top concerning the five senses consisting in alternating affirmative and negative imperatives (do not listen, listen; do not touch, touch; etc.). What has motivated the artist for many years is his interest in investigating the relation that man has with himself, with others, and with the surrounding world, as well as his interest in the way man has of perceiving himself and the others, and in how all this affects his evolution. This study ended up in artworks that aim at destructuring, destabilizing, and shattering a static and known perception in order to foster a new and unexpected one.
