After the Rain #1, Original Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting, 2020 23" x 31" x 1.5" (HxWxD) Acrylic and Oil on Canvas Hand-signed by the artist. An expressive and gestural abstraction by artist Simona Gocan, this work uses the rich colors orange, red, and yellow tones of the desert landscape to create swaths of organic shapes around the composition. Moments of blue and green peak through, giving the impression of a sky or perhaps a distant tree line, or maybe it's all a mirage. Artist Commentary: Gestural painting created in 2020 and inspired by the colors of the American Southwest, in particular by a trip I took to the Antelope Canyon, in Arizona. Nature has always been my main point of reference. I paint from memory, I'm more interested in creating the atmosphere and the emotion I felt when I was in a specific place.
