Sofie Swann
"Lollipops #4, " Abstract Painting

2020

About the Item

This large-scale abstract painting features a bright blue background with vibrant, complementary yellow shapes covering the canvas. The shapes are mostly rectangular, with some larger ones including a square-like shape at the top, making them look similar to a lollipop. The yellow shapes are also complemented by stripes of grey and white. Bright and colorful, it is wired and ready to hang. Sofie Swann is an American artist, born and raised in Tehran, Iran. Displaced at a young age due to political upheaval, her abstract paintings reflect a chaotic yet structured world mirroring inner feelings of dislocation and disconnect in her journey to find a place called home. Her sources of inspiration are memory and the subconscious, drawn from her childhood all the way to her adult life experiences living for many years in Boston, Massachusetts, then Paris, France before finally settling in Connecticut. Swann graduated from Smith College, holds a law degree, and studied art at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.

Nina is an artist, ceramist and colorist with 20 years of professional experience and a lifetime of art appreciation. Originally from Virginia and having traveled and lived extensively worldwide she now resides as a full-time artist and ceramist in Los Angeles. With a degree in psychology and training in ceramics, painting was a natural transition and expansion to her repertoire from an early age. With color and form as her guide, her artwork flows from spontaneous and spiritual inspiration. Influenced by her travels with the play of color and light, her paintings reflect nature, spirit and a place of tranquility. There’s a touch of magic, secrets and a touch of the unknown in every painting, when painting ”time stops and almost an altered state of consciousness overtakes as the painting evolves”. Nina’s artwork has been shown in California, New York, Berlin, Montreal, Texas and Tokyo Japan. Santa Ana...
