A very good large 20th century Abstract Expressionist oil circa 1975. Stanley Smith (b. 1923) British.
oil on board 61cmx 122cm.
Gallery frame 65cmx 126cm.
Very thickly impastoed painted style allover series of expressive mark making in various techniques associated with the Abstract Expressionist school and Post Modern techniques explored by artists such as Jackson Pollock and more recently Gerhard Richter.
The painting has a nature/ organic inspired theme, reflected light on water, rocks, trees and spacial push and pull.
Poured paint, scraped pools, marbling blends of pure colour. The effect of the processes. Genuine mid 20th century piece by listed artist Stanley Smith. .
Good condition, natural fine cracquelure to the paint surface in some areas. Paint is stable on the support.
Signed and dated lower right
