‘Highlanders Heading South’ by Henry Garland (1834-1913). The painting – which depicts a herd of longhorn cattle coming down from the Scottish Highlands for the winter – is signed by the artist and presented in a fine quality, newly commissioned gold metal leaf frame. All our paintings are sold in the finest condition they can be for their age having been professionally cleaned, conserved and re-varnished. Clients should also note that tracked and signed for international shipping is complimentary. Henry Garland entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1853, winning medals for 'Best Drawing from the Life' in both 1854 and 1857. From 1854 he exhibited at the most prominent London venues having 30 paintings shown at the Royal Academy, 67 at the Royal Society of British Artists, and 12 at the British Institution. Today one of Henry Garland’s paintings hangs in the famous Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground in London. Dimensions: (framed) 91cm x 137cm (35¾” x 54”) Dimensions: (canvas only) 74cm x 120cm (29¼” x 47¼”) Medium: Oil on canvas. Provenance: Private UK collection.
