Jason Noushin
The Tyger

2017

About

"Tyger I" is an original artwork by Jason Noushin depicting the head of a horse, in white oil paint, on a raw linen background. This painting is part of a series by the artist, depicting the horse as its subject. This more traditional translation captures the delicate musculature of the horse's head in a luminescent white. But to bring the traditional representation into the contemporary, the artist uses shellac to add a three-dimensional quality to the painting, creating a sort of relief sculpture. The painting is on the smaller size at 20 x 20 inches, and pairs nicely with its mate, "Tyger II", also by Noushin.
