Signed lower left, 'Wilenchick' for Clement Samuel Wilenchick (American, 1900-1957) and painted circa 1955. A dynamic, post-impressionist oil showing horses frolicking together against a misty blue sky. Born in New York City, Clement Wilenchick was a modernist painter, set designer and an actor under the stage name of Crane Whitley. By the 1930s, he was living and working in Hollywood. In 1938, Wilenchick was able to both make his feature film debut and his first exhibit with the San Francisco Art Association.
