About the Item
Giving All works of art contain a story, just as each piece captures the mood of the artist. Much like a writer with pen to paper, sometimes a painter will paint a painting for no other purpose than to tell a story, to express an idea or thought, or to simply study a particular concept. Creativity acted out in such a manner becomes the ultimate expression of personality, often opening wide a doorway into the mind of the creator and thereby giving birth to deeply personal works of art. This work embodies such creative freedom as the artist explores the dynamic concept of Hope where the ultimate power of giving is rewarded with need, resulting in the penultimate consequence of erasing the boundary between the giver and the receiver. The "Giver" is painted in a playful and painterly manner using a combination of wet and dry stroke techniques whereas the painted bodies and outlines of color are raw and resemble a carefree indifference to form. This childlike innocence is accentuated by colorful overlays of oil pastels using thin, broad strokes.
