Charles Ponzi developed a fraud in which early investors in a nonexistent enterprise are paid from money invested by later investors. His lies required constant upkeep in order for it to succeed.
And this is the reality of lying – The maintenance of a lie is endless. The bigger the lie, the more time we spend caring for it.
