Ashoke Mullick
Woman on the Window, under the Moon, Angels Hovering, Red, Green color"In Stock"

About the Item

Ashoke Mullick - Woman by the Moonlight - 36 x 50 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. While a woman romantically perches herself by her house window, under the moonlight her man played a "Tuba" ( brass instrument) to amuse and entertain her. She feels angels hovering over her head as she listens in bliss to the wonderful Music under the moonlit night . Ashoke Mullick , has been painting since the last 45 years . His works are predominantly preoccupied with themes around woman and her activities , interaction and relationship with man and the environment . She is often dressed in an Indian Sari , with red ribbons on her hair, gazing out of the window awaiting her loved one or daydreaming about her love and life. The Bengali culture has a strong influence in Mullick's works where he incorporates stories from Rabindranath Tagore's great books like 'Charulata' .Mullick has often made his woman gaze out of the window, sheltered in her big house and wondering and longing for the outside world; so much so that she tries to see the world through her binoculars . Style: Ashoke Mullick is considered one of the leading painters from the Bengal School of Art. Mullick combines a sense of satire with contemporary conditions. His paintings focus strongly on the ordinary man and the contradictions he faces. He uses colours like greens and blues to depict a largely urban India. His paintings also includes a strong focus on the ordinary person – more specifically womankind and the contradictions it faces. The artist likes to portray the contemporary age where people have lost the human touch and have become increasingly impersonal in their behaviour. As a painter, he touches on these facets where customs are not being followed and the link between now and the past is getting hazy. He's carved out a niche for himself with his juxtaposition of real and unreal imagery infusing his canvasses with bold, vibrant imagination and certain energy, which is extremely appealing. Mullick has been painting for the last 30 years. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1957, Calcutta. Dilip Chaudhury - Kolkata Street - 30 x 40 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : Dilip Chaudhury's works depict the Bengali countryside and his hometown Kolkata bathed in the monsoon rains. His black and white works are ever popular though of late he has been dabbling in colour. Dilip Chaudhury has been painting various scenes from everyday life of Calcutta & sometimes Banaras, in watercolour. From ancient monuments, streets & ghats, to a rickshaw puller in action, he is captured it all, beautifully. To somebody who has even a remote connection with Calcutta, he manages to bring a wave of nostalgia, as he symbolizes the character of the city of joy in his work. Like a true artist who has not been afraid of trying his hand at almost every subject and medium under the sun, Dilip has metamorphosed into a sought – after artist with a niche skill of creating above all, subjects of abundant beauty and character with a strong sense of perspective. A touch of red in his paintings symbolises optimism. Dilip has executed truly riveting canvasses, each of which has a unique story to narrate. They are not flat but have grandeur, movement, people and therefore, life infused into them. Sometimes Dilip uses his imagination to highlight the simple rickshaw puller of Kolkata. He creates stylistic compositions from unusual angles, which succeed in enthralling the viewer. About the Artist & his works : Born : Kolkata, West Bengal.
