About the Item
David Shevlino's female diving figure beautifully links traditional representation with abstraction. Through Shevlino’s sensuous application of paint, his use of broad brushstrokes followed by a tightening up of the composition, and his making of spontaneous, gestural marks, the artist creates living, breathing figures that not only stand before us, but appear to move.
Here, 'Diver in Red', painted with oil on panel appears to move in free fall floatation as the figure is captured between the diving board and water's surface, creating a truly provocative work of art. The painting comes framed in a pale solid hardwood frame. The panel is 30 x 28 inches with an outer frame dimension of approximately 31 x 29 inches.
