Delphin Enjolras was a French genre and a portrait painter. He was born in May 13, 1865 at Coucouran in the Ardeche.
He was Jean-Leon Gerome’s student at Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris and also studied at Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret and G.C.E. Courtois’s studio.
Enjolras began at Societe des Artistes Francais in 1889 and continued to exhibit there until 1909. He has worked with pastel since 1900 and became a popular society portraitist with this medium.
Enjolras is also known for his nude studies and decorative compositions of young women. Occasionally he departed from portraiture to paint city scenes.
He died in 1945.
