"Rain II" by Jason Noushin is exemplary of the Anglo-Iranian's approach to his artwork, including his study of this particular female figure, the use of collage and the bridging of Iranian and Western cultures. The painting features the torso of a seated woman at its main focal point on the right side of the canvas. This female figure appears in many of the artist's works, based on a woman he saw in a painting that has captured his attention ever since. She is balanced out by four bright red birch trees on the left. The artist often uses Persian calligraphy in his paintings, writing out transliterations of english poems or stories. In this piece, the calligraphy appears on the lower half of the painting, appearing to be the land surrounding the seated woman.
