About the Item
Oil painting of lego blocks and a half eaten peanut butter & jelly sandwich. The implied narrative adds to the piece. Maybe a big brother just knocked the creation down and the child went to Mom to complain. Or maybe he moved onto the next adventure. A glimpse into a child's world, one we all have experienced. Tone is engaging, fun with universal appeal.
About the artist:
Molloy work in commercial and technical illustration before pursuing fine art. He started painting in 2005, learning to paint by studying the work of old masters and contemporary artists.
"I like to try to find and capture the beauty and simplicity of the world around us, and to express that through my work. If my paintings can provide someone with a place to escape from their everyday life, I have succeeded."
He has earned numerous awards for his work including awards adjudicated by prestigious judges Peter Trippi of Fine Arts Connoisseur, Lilly Wei of Art in America and ARTNews and by noted painter April Gornik. Jim’s work has been on display in exhibitions, galleries and museums on Long Island, in Manhattan, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, and in the Netherlands. His work is in private collections around the world, and is part of the permanent collection of Stony Brook University Hospital.
