About the Item
Artist Comments
Two geisha pass on the street. Loose, painterly details with beautiful soft features in the main subject's face. Tonal palette of white and grey highlighted with purple, yellow and peach undertones. As a child, Mary Pratt became fascinated with the beauty of the geisha. "I visited the UN building in New York with my girl scout troop and purchased a porcelain geisha. I thought they were the most beautiful and mysterious people I had ever seen. I still think that today."
