Marilyn vs JFK & JFK vs Marilyn
Located in New York, NY
In a captivating new collection, Alex Guofeng Cao dazzles audiences with his unique twist on instantly recognizable images. Inspired by history and pop culture, Cao manipulates one iconic image to create another in his extraordinary large-scale works. From a distance, the pieces appear to be a singular image but as the viewer approaches closer, you find each work is a masterfully crafted compilation of minute detailed images layered next to one another, creating a mesmerizing and hypnotic optical illusion.
Cao meticulously places each smaller image to form a dynamic gradient from dark to light which tricks the eye into seeing one image. This expertise in contrast is exemplified in all of his works, from striking black and white pieces to stunning explorations in high-definition color. He cleverly mirrors this visual contrast in his subject matter by subverting the main image and creating a dialogue between the macrocosm and microcosm.
Take the piece, Ali vs Armstrong; here we see the iconic image of Muhammed Ali’s victory composed of thousands of tiny portraits...

Seymour Chwast (born August 18, 1931) is an American graphic designer, illustrator, and type designer.

Today, he continues to work and is principal at The Pushpin Group, Inc. in New York City.
In 1979, he was hired by McDonald's to design on the first box for their Happy Meals. He is the font designer of Chwast Buffalo, Fofucha, Loose Caboose NF, and Weedy Beasties NF. Book Sculpture Paper Mache Enamel Painting Jean Lowe Please Don't Eat Daisy
By Jean Lowe
Located in Surfside, FL
Jean Lowe (American, b. 1960)
Book-form sculpture, 2004
"Please Don't Eat Daisy",
Enamel painted papier-mache
Hand signed and dated verso
Dimensions 10.5"h x 12.75"w x 4"d
This title is well suited for vegetarians, vegans and plant based diets!
Jean Lowe is a California-based painter and sculptor. She creates installations and sculptural works of enamel-painted papier-mâché. Lowe earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley in 1983. She earned her MFA from UC San Diego in 1988.
She was a lecturer at UC San Diego from 1992 to 2008.
Lowe's installations are handmade, labor intensive and visually playful installations, with papier-mâché furnishings and objects juxtaposed to site specific wall painting. Lowe says of her installations, "Intellectually I am driven by an interest in challenging a status quo anthropocentric world view and formally interested in marrying that content to a 'domestic' decorative esthetic." Many of Lowe's installations have quoted 18th and 19th century French decoration, rife with romanticized images of animals and nature and imbued with a sense of class and privilege. Into this fabric she substitutes or integrate corresponding contemporary attitudes--both about our treatment of the land and its other inhabitants and our attitudes regarding decoration: the wrestling match between high and low art. Wry humor. Lowe creates sculptural representations of everyday objects using papier-mâché and enamel paint. She is known for her papier-mâché books and has created a large collection of them with evocative and amusing titles. Her work Books and Ideas in an Age of Anxiety comprises a collection of them in display cases and is situated in Byers Hall at UCSF as part of the J. Michael Bishop Art Collection at Mission Bay.
Among the book titles are: Accelerated Zen Buddhism: How to Win at the Hereafter. Anxiety: The Unexploited Weight Loss Tool. Artistic Mammography. The Eco-Tourist's Guide to Las Vegas. A Guide to Box Wines. Hot Buttered Cop Porn. How to Dominate Women. Militant Feminist Veganism for All. The Triumph of Minimalism and other such titles.
Exhibitions
Lowe has exhibited in both New York and Los Angeles. She participated in the 1994 exhibition Bad Girls West.
Curated by Marcia Tucker, Bad Girls was a humorous and transgressive look at gender and feminist issues. It featured work from artist across many media, including photo, painting, sculpture, performance, film, comics, advertisements, writings and more. Tree of Knowledge II (Tapestry of Nature) : abstract work of art
Located in New York, NY
Abstract work of art with figurative elements by Elizabeth Myers Castonguay.
Her work is dedicated to creating art about human equality and preservation of the biodiversity of nature. This painting is a complex work of art that incorporates abstraction and figurative elements. One can notice images of books, human hands, bitten apple and even an entire beautiful landscape in this canvas. Stark contrast of dark background with bright shapes and elements create drama and tension. This work can become a unique gift and will be a wonderful addition to any space, be it a living room of a modern home or a lobby of a commercial building.

St Paul With Sword and Book, Mannerist School, Oil on Copper
Located in Stockholm, SE
Mannerism, derived from the Italian term "maneria," which simply means "style," was an artistic movement that emerged in the later years of the Italian High Renaissance, around 1520, and extended into the early 17th century. It is often referred to as the "stylish style" due to its emphasis on self-conscious artifice rather than realistic depiction. Historians debate whether Mannerism should be classified as a style, a movement, or a period.
In contrast to the harmonious ideals embraced by renowned artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci, Mannerist painters took a step further and created compositions that were almost bizarre. They introduced fresh color schemes, elongated proportions, and exaggerated anatomy of figures, portraying them in convoluted and serpentine poses. These artists skillfully exhibited their techniques and abilities, aiming to evoke a sense of sophisticated elegance.
Among the notable Mannerist painters are Jacopo da Pontormo, Bronzino, Lavinia Fontana...

Mother and Me
Located in New Orleans, LA
Framed Dimensions: 11h x 11w in
Alexander Stolin, born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine (under the former Soviet Socialist Republic),
where he received intensive training and a master of fine arts degree in his homeland’s
traditional art academies. He immigrated to San Francisco in 1992, met his future wife in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi, then married and settled in New Orleans. He maintains a home and
studio in Madisonville, Louisiana, and is a significant but understated figure in the New Orleans
art community. As art critic D. Eric Bookhardt suggested in 2002, “Stolin is more accomplished
than he is famous.” His art, often exhibited in thematic series that incorporate a variety of media,
ranges from intimate portraits to large-scale murals (one measuring twelve feet by seventy-two
feet). He has worked on a progressively larger scale, most recently designing and painting
projects for the Louisiana film industry. Stolin’s technically proficient and complexly layered art
reflects a unique fusion of the academic training he received in Kiev and his evolving response
to the very different culture, lifestyle, and subject matter he has discovered in New Orleans,
Madisonville, and the Gulf South.
Stolin was born on August 30, 1963. His art abilities were quickly recognized when in fourth
grade he qualified for admission to the State School of Art in Kiev, which he attended from 1975
to 1981. He decided to concentrate on book illustration and graphic arts, and after graduating he
was accepted into the Ivan Fedorov Polygraphic Institute in Moscow, where he studied from
1982 to 1988, graduating with a master of fine arts degree in 1988. He trained as a printmaker,
creating etchings and lithographs, and as a graphic designer, and worked as a designer in Kiev.
“I illustrated mysteries, science fiction, and different magazines,” he said. In 1988, after his
family visited relatives in San Francisco, California, the Stolins decided to immigrate to the
United States, a process that took four years. In 1992, Stolin and his parents immigrated to San
Francisco, and he worked for graphic design and print businesses in nearby Emeryville,
California. During a trip to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was visiting cousins, Stolin met
Mary Kay Holmes. The couple soon married and moved to New Orleans, where Stolin
established himself as a working artist and began to exhibit in local galleries and group
exhibitions.
The art Stolin began to create in New Orleans demonstrated his technical skills, knowledge of
art history, and the evolving range of his subject matter, reflected from one series and exhibition
to the next, yet it was challenging for critics to classify his work. This was evident in the series
Stolin exhibited during his first decade in the city, beginning with Byzantium on the Bayou
(1993–1994), which combined historical Byzantine art references with New Orleans and Mardi
Gras subjects, such as Mardi Gras Madonna and Adoration of St. Gator. In his Midnight Dessert
series (1995–1997), he created works such as Tea in Manhattan and Rembrandt and Nathan, a
large painting that Bookhardt described as “a vision of Rembrandt and various Dutch masters
promenading down the sidewalk past Nathan’s Deli in New York.” Following that, he completed
The Water Series (1998–1999), featuring reflective and heavily worked surfaces in paintings
such as Reflections #2 and Study of Fish and Swimmers.
Stolin’s Face to Face series of portraits, completed from 2000 to 2002, featured New Orleans
artists including Douglas Bourgeois...

"Canton Olive and Gold" Pop-Art Americana Star Contemporary Oil/ 23K Gold Leaf
Located in Wellesley, MA
Charlotte Gibbs’ "flag" and "star" paintings often reference the artist's interest in Pop art and sometimes incorporate 23 karat gold leaf in addition to oil paint, but not always. With its depiction of a detail of the graphically idealized stars of the American flag in gold leaf against an olive ground, "Canton Olive and Gold" is at once lovely and bold. Beautifully painted and exquisitely executed, these elegant works of rich color are sophisticated examples of Gibbs' ability to invoke whimsy while demanding serious attention, and the artist's simple natural wood double lattice frame is the perfect complement.

ON THE ICE - Textural figure painting - Oil and Enamel on Canvas Red, Polka-Dot
Located in Signal Mountain, TN
In the series of paintings titled “That Feeling When,” Aldrich expands the excess of materials to large figure paintings and small, overfilled sculptures. Aldrich uses thick materials that protrude from the surface, reminding the viewer that the paintings are not only physical objects in themselves, but also create the illusion of the picture. The work employs a risky excess of material that borders on uncontrollable; becoming metaphoric for barely controlled femininity, the attraction and repulsion of materialism, and the body pressing against constraints.
The figures in the paintings are seen from behind or have turned away. The viewer is put in a place of questioning whether they are a voyeur or a co-viewer with the figure of something deeper in the picture plane. The full body paintings of young women based on Nancy Drew...
